Markings on wallpaper

The following overview of the accepted terms explains the meaning of the symbols and quality marks used in the wallpaper industry.

Without the beginning of the article means - gluing does not need to follow the course of the article.

Straight start of article with indication of transport in centimeters (example: 40/0); the same motifs are glued next to each other at the same height.

Offset drawing. The pattern of the next line is shifted to the specified unit each time.

Resistant to wet processing. Minor dirt can be removed with a damp sponge.

Highly resistant to wet processing. Dirt other than oils and grease can be removed with a soap solution and sponge if necessary.

Cleanable (abrasion resistant). Resistant to abrasion, ie dirt can be removed with a mild soap liquid and a soft scrub.

Reverse article. Glue in reverse. Every other strip needs to be glued upside down.

Good light fast.

High-quality two-layer wallpaper (gluing relief does not disappear)

Dividable into layers. The top layer of wallpaper can be removed dry. The bottom layer of paper wallpaper remains on the wall.

Completely removed dry. The corner of the wallpaper stripe is released, which allows you to remove all the strips one after the other.

Kleister is applied to the wall finish in advance; the back of the wallpaper is pre-coated with a paste, which is activated during temporary wetting.

Paste horizontally. The wallpaper column is glued horizontally instead of vertically.

The glue is applied to the wall, which is glued with wallpaper (wall decoration technique).

The glue is applied to the wall finish (for example: with a machine for gluing wallpaper).

Impact resistance; it is characterized by special wallpapers with a particularly durable, tightly-flexible surface.

Crossing and double neckline; wallpaper strips are applied 5-8 cm on top of each other and are cut with a knife with a floating leg.

Removable in the wet state means that the wallpaper is moistened during repair and then completely removed.

A compatible material, ie a curtain or cladding fabric is suitable for these wallpapers.

"RAL-GZ 479". In order to meet the high quality and safety requirements, wallpaper manufacturers established a quality control organization. In addition to the technical aspects, the RAL quality label guarantees, first and foremost, that the wallpaper produced does not endanger health and the environment.


Fire resistance.
Until now, the fire resistance of wall surfaces has been marked with the MPA marking in accordance with DIN 4102. Since 2011, all wallpapers produced must be CE marked in accordance with EN 15102. The indicated CE identification number EN 13501-1 indicates the corresponding fire resistance class.


"FSC-Label 4".
With the FSC "Mix" mark, the manufacturer indicates that only wood of tested origin was used in the wallpaper or that it was made from secondary raw materials. Such a sign shows a conscientious and responsible approach to forest resources.
